So here's the deal in a nutshell; You now earn points for any purchase in store, whether that be tattoos, piercings, or jewellery, on top of all of this you also earn rewards on spends that people you have referred make.
Absolutely not! Its free to anyone, just enquire about it in store.
Yes, you must leave us a review on google, follow one (or more) of our social media platforms and subscribe so you can be a part of our newsletters to announce events and such.
You can find our sub form on our home page under artists and a connect with us section right underneath to make following us on Facebook and Instagram easier than ever!
The only catch is points last 12 months, so you have an entire year to redeem them which we feel is plenty fair right?
Gaz has wanted to offer something like this for a long time, but could never find the right platform to use.
Basically our aim is to get a good solid reach of real people that really vouch for us and our work and reward those individuals with discounts than to be paying big corporations thousands for advertising where as we all know; Ads don't mean quality, they mean highest bidder. The hope is this will build a strong community around our store of real people that make real purchases rather than paying for clicks and likes.
Your friend will still be eligible for all their points on purchase if they wish to join in, the referral reward is a bonus, not an "instead of"
A lot of studios seem to be hellbent on devaluing the industry with upfront discounts recently, I'm sure others will begin soon enough, especially now were doing it too... But basically this to us feels like a way of charging what the industry is worth and rewarding repeat custom rather than trying to poach single jobs at the cost of the industry.
So its relatively simple; basically you get rewarded 1 point per £10 spent with the value past whatever the booking fee would have cost on purchases.
The booking fee for piercings is £10, tattoos £20 except day sessions that are £50, so anything spent beyond that is eligible to a point per £10.
For referrals its the same deal working past the eligible booking fee however is 1 point per every £20 spent from the person you referred.
Points mean pounds! 1 point = £1
Sure!
So as of writing this the Day rate for a tattoo is £440 with a £50 deductible booking fee, which means; when you come in for your day session you have already paid £50 towards is and are left with £390 to pay.
£390 pounds you pay would earn you 39 points which is £39 you can put towards your next tattoo.
Lets stick with the day session example for referrals; so you friend would also have the same thing, they would be paying £390 on the day, so if they want to be a part of the reward scheme they would earn themselves 39 points and if you referred them you would earn 1 point on £20 increments which means you'd earn £19 in rewards to your account.

"Hi, my name is John Smith. I'm interested in a Snake tattoo on my inner bicep, approximately 10cm wide and 15cm long, in a Japanese style. I've attached reference images for the tattoo I like. The snake's position in the first photo appeals to me, but I'd prefer the head to resemble the second image. I'd like the style of the snake to resemble the lines, colours, and shades of the third image. Additionally, I'm considering a background similar to the fourth image."

We want to provide clear guidelines regarding piercing ages, considering both ethical and safety factors. Please note that UK laws are not explicitly clear on age consent for non-intimate piercing locations. However, here's how we handle it at our studio:
1. Intimate Piercings: For all intimate piercings, the legal age of consent is set at 16, as it aligns with the age of consent for sexual activities. This means that there's no legal age below 16, with or without parental or guardian consent, as it falls under pre-consenting age statutes.
2. Basic Earlobe Piercings: We're happy to perform basic earlobe piercings for individuals aged about 10 years and older, but parental or legal guardian consent is required. This ensures that the child genuinely wants the piercings and is not influenced by external pressures. Please understand that if your child changes their mind about the piercing at any point, we won't proceed, and there will be charges to cover equipment and time expenses. We believe in respecting your child's choice, and no pressure will be tolerated.
3. Helix Piercings: Helix piercings can be done from around the age of 12 and upwards, following the same rules of consent and no forced piercings.
4. More Advanced Piercings: For more advanced piercings, we typically recommend waiting until the age of 16. However, exceptions may be considered if we are satisfied that due diligence has been met. We may check school policies or consult with schools to ensure there will be no suspension or issues related to the piercing. It's important to note that simply because "all their friends have it done" doesn't necessarily mean it's allowed by the school. Always be vigilant to ensure that your child won't face disciplinary action or be asked to remove the piercing.
5. Age for Piercing Without Parents: If you're coming in without your parents, the minimum age is 16. Please keep in mind that we will require valid identification, such as a passport, provisional driving license, valiDATE card, or citizencard, to prove your date of birth. If the ID is out of date, tampered with, damaged, defaced, or doesn't accurately represent your current appearance, it cannot legally be accepted as valid ID. Additionally, forms of ID like college IDs are generally not suitable as they are not government-issued forms of ID. It's helpful to remember that if your ID wouldn't get you through a country's border control, it may not be considered valid for our purposes either.
We hope this information helps clarify our age policies for piercings. If you have any further questions or need more details, please don't hesitate to reach out, and we'll be happy to assist you.
If you're under 16 and want to get a piercing, you can bring one of the following individuals with you:
We want to ensure your safety and well-being during the piercing process, so please make sure to follow these guidelines when deciding who can accompany you. If you have any further questions or need additional information, please feel free to reach out, and we'll be happy to assist you.
Wow! You really do have some extremely cool parents, It's great that your parents are supportive, but we can only provide tattoo services to individuals who are 18 years of age or older, and here's why:
UK Law: In the UK, the legal age for getting a tattoo has always been and remains fixed at 18 due to the permanent nature of tattoos.
We understand that you may have heard differently from other studios or friends who may have had tattoos done before turning 18. However, our commitment to upholding the law and maintaining our reputation as a reputable studio is our top priority. We will always adhere to the legal age requirement for tattooing.
While some businesses may not adhere to the law, we take a different approach. We are dedicated to our craft, our clients' safety, and the integrity of our profession. There is no amount of money that would ever tempt us to risk our entire career by engaging in practices that are not in line with the law.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to assisting you when you reach the legal age. If you have any questions or need more information, please don't hesitate to contact us.
We appreciate the input from your friend, but it's important to remember that when it comes to tattoos and piercings, we're the professionals with the expertise in this field.
Our team is extensively trained and well-versed in various aspects, including the law, waste regulations, preventing cross-contamination, precise framing and positioning of tattoos and piercings, as well as aftercare, among many other topics.
When discussing your tattoo or piercing, including your preferences and location, your voice is the one that matters most. Your body is unique, and the decisions should reflect your personal choices and style. Your friends, partner, or family can certainly have their own opinions, but it's crucial to recognize that your body is your canvas.
When it comes to what's technically possible to achieve based on your requirements, that's where our professional insight becomes valuable. We can provide guidance on what will work best to bring your vision to life while ensuring the best possible outcome.
Feel free to share your ideas and preferences with us, and we'll work together to create a tattoo or piercing that's uniquely yours. If you have any questions or need further information, please don't hesitate to reach out
We understand that you might seek advice from multiple sources, but it's important to consider a few key points when discussing your tattoo:
Professional Liability: Just like doctors, surgeons, and other specialized professionals, we are the ones responsible for your tattoo. We meticulously keep records of your tattooing process, including the needles used, voltage settings, and how your skin reacted to the procedure. This detailed knowledge allows us to provide you with the best care and service.
Differing Expertise: Tattooists, like other professionals, have varying levels of experience and expertise. Some artists may specialize in specific types of tattoos, machine types, or particular body locations. It's not uncommon to encounter differences in opinion between tattoo artists. For instance, one artist may believe a design can be done while another may express reservations. This can be influenced by their unique experiences and preferences.
Seek Evidence: If you encounter conflicting advice, it's a good idea to ask the artist who believes a design can be done for evidence of similar past works. Similarly, if an artist insists that something can't be done, consider doing some research. Check if other artists agree or if they can provide evidence to support their opinion.
Ultimately, your tattoo is a personal and unique expression, and we encourage you to engage in open and informed discussions with us. We are here to provide you with the best advice and expertise to bring your vision to life. If you have any questions or need more information, please feel free to reach out, and we'll be happy to assist you.
We completely understand that Google and Pinterest can be valuable tools for sourcing ideas and inspiration. However, it's important to remember that what you see online isn't always a true representation of reality. Here's why:
Real vs. Online: The images you find online may not accurately depict how tattoos will look and age in the long run. Some images may be enhanced with AI or Photoshop, making tattoos appear flawless and vibrant. What's crucial to consider is how a tattoo will evolve over time—1, 5, or even 10 years from now. We want your tattoo to stand the test of time and not turn into a shapeless blob or, worse, fade away.
Before and After: To get a more realistic idea of how tattoos can change over time, it can be helpful to search for "before and after" images. This search can provide insight into how tattoos may age and what to expect in the long term.
Tattoo Truth: Another valuable resource is "Tattoo Truth Fairy," which sheds light on how some artists enhance their tattoo images for social media, often using techniques like adjusting white and black levels to create a super clean and impossibly smooth appearance.
Our goal is to provide you with a tattoo that not only looks great initially but also ages gracefully. We want you to be delighted with your tattoo for years to come. If you have any more questions or need further clarification, please don't hesitate to reach out, and we'll be happy to assist you further.
Yes, to some extent, our images may undergo a degree of post-processing. However, we do this with a clear goal in mind: to provide you with a realistic representation of our work. Here's what you need to know:
Unintentional Editing: Nowadays, most cameras, including those on phones, automatically make adjustments to photos. These adjustments can include balancing colours, correcting contrasts, and enhancing exposure. As a result, it's challenging to capture any image without some unintentional editing happening. Which we dislike and try to reverse.
Intentional Editing: When it comes to intentional editing, we only make minor adjustments not to "change" how our tattoos are represented but to actually enhance them back to how they look in the flesh. Our primary aim is to educate our clients about the real expectations for their tattoo, both when it's fresh and as it heals. Therefore, we might intentionally soften neutral tones or remove redness to show you a somewhat closer representation of how the tattoo will appear as it heals. This editing is done to help you form realistic expectations, and we believe it's essential for building trust and fostering return business.
Our commitment is to provide you with the best service and ensure you are fully informed about your tattoo journey. If you have any more questions or would like further clarification, please feel free to reach out, and we'll be happy to assist you.
Please reach us at if you cannot find an answer to your question.
No, for a few reasons.
At Intense Colours we hold a license for cosmetic piercing which is a higher level of piercing certification, in the years before our studio existed Gaz has in fact worked alongside old colleagues with environmental health to create levels such as the approved piercer scheme which was a council led stamp of quality.
One of the guidelines to this was no guns, for a few very good reasons;
- Guns are HIGHLY infectious! they cannot be sterilized due to the intricate mechanisms inside and plastic exteriors. and are a multi use tool, That means if someone was to bleed on the gun, or even have a mild skin infection or weep some sort of fluid on the gun they would put everyone after at risk, you may have seen these practitioners at various accessories stores using these guns and afterwards give them a lazy 90% wipe over with alcohol wipes, alcohol wipes are for disinfection only and are not of the same label as sterilisation. as they will not kill everything and often require higher saturation and time in contact than an alcohol wipe will give. Hepatitis for example is an extremely resilient virus that can live in dormancy for weeks and still re-infect, its highly contagious and absolutely disastrous to health and mortality the best way to fight this disease is to either crush it with heat and pressure from an autoclave (steriliser) or have the means to throw the item in use away.
As a side note, contaminated and soiled are not the same, an item such as a gun may appear unsoiled and still be covered in disease as it could be in the form of clear plasma that's been splatted across the gun from impact.
- Guns are not accurate, if you're getting your pair of earlobes done for example and one lands 4mm to the left and the other lands 4mm to the right they will be offset by 8mm between them which will notice.
- Guns to not have any way of backing out if things go wrong, this means if they click and you flinch...who knows what will happen, piercing with a needle allows a safety net of being able to pull away if things aren't going to plan.
- Guns get stuck! Ever heard the horror story of someone getting a needle stuck in them that can be removed? No? Well neither have we, because needles don't have latches to get stuck with.
Yes, this is quite a list of various requests over the years. mainly down to hygiene factors, clients health and wellbeing or the ultimate buzzkill - insurance.
General rule of thumb is if you don't see it in our price list we likely don't do it but please do check with us if in doubt in case something has been overlooked.
Mostly no, due to specialist stock requirements for most and a general lack of interest from the public, it is simply not financially viable to do as we have to buy in bulk and certain items such as the gauge of needle we use for some would simply expire in sterilization before being used. That said; there are a very select few that can be done with the same jewellery we stock for other more popular piercings such as VCH for women which uses the same jewellery used for navel and Jacobs ladders with curved barbells for men.
Please make sure you book in for a consultation beforehand to ensure you are an acceptable candidate to save disappointment on the day of piercing as it is not a one size fits all kind of piercing.
Please stay up to date with laws regarding this piercing as all information is based on current UK laws however there are proposals to remove certain piercings from being available under Circumcision/FGM and domestic abuse concerns.
If in doubt please text us your enquiry.
And you never will! we have always taken a stance on dermals as being a very bad idea for our clients no matter how much financial gain we may miss through this choice.
The Simple fact of the matter is this; Dermals WILL always need to be removed at some point of you life, for about 90% of you; this will be pretty much immediately when it either doesn't take, gets caught, infected, contaminated by makeup or products...assuming it doesn't just dangle out and eventually fall out and leave a nasty gross looking scar that will be keyloided and never go away.
Furthermore practitioner liability can also occur frequently in dermals where severed tissue inside the punch doesn't get removed, mostly this will have enough of a healthy blood flow to regenerate, however the worst case scenarios and more common than people may care to admit is the blood flow to the unremoved tissue dies and then becomes necrotic which can lead to cysts, pocketing of infection and even serious blood infection. Biopsy punches should only be used by experienced doctors and surgeons, no matter how much piercers may know about basic anatomy we are not and never will be surgeons without a lot more training.
No, lidocaine (the active ingredient used in anaesthetics) is a highly controlled substance in the UK, the reason for this is because it is extremely dangerous stuff to use as if people react it can be potentially fatal. Although many websites sell this stuff meaning it is freely availble it can be problematic for a few reasons;
- You shipment may be seized as although it may be available it doesn't means its strictly legal to purchase.
- It only works at skin level, that's right! it may numb the surface but unless its injected it will do nothing to layers under your very top layers of skin. and the injection would likely hurt far more than the piercing.
- It causes changes to the circulation in skin, this can mean you can get healing issues as well as developing long term of lifelong conditions such as allergic response and contact dermatitis.
No, Freezing sprays do not contain any anaesthetising qualities, they do however contain a huge risk of frostbite injury which is never recommended especially on damaged tissue. freezing sprays are a placebo gimmick from the days where piercings were a lot more daunting and mysterious to try and provide some emotional relief. You do not need it, a piercing will hurt a lot less and heal a lot faster without being frozen first!
Please reach us at if you cannot find an answer to your question.
No we don't believe in false economy, our prices are all in with the best implant grade titanium manufactured in UK with material safety data sheets available to guarantee the metals safety and aftercare (if necessary) thrown in to our prices starting from £15 upwards to around £40.
Your buy on get one free piercing on the other hand may well wind up landing you a bill upwards of £80 once you pay your upgrade fee from 316L steel to titanium and buy aftercare as an after purchase. general rule of thumb is nothing is ever really free, they have already priced your second piercing in at a profit so you really aren't gaining anything doing it this way. although harmless if you already intended on 2 piercings in which case 2x our price would likely fall around the same if the quality is like for like.
Piercing prices are listed on our website, ask if you cant find something although means there's a high chance we don't do it.
For tattoo prices how much is a bag of groceries? the answer is limitless. Your tattoo quote will be formulated on a chat with you about size, location on body, style, whether its colour or black and grey. Even factors such as how you want to break the sessions down will play a factor in how the tattoo is priced.
Yes, we can arrange this to make sure the tattoos are linked on the same day, however the day session rate shown is discounted due to single client as there will be a reduction in setup costs which means it works out cheaper as it eventually becomes a labour heavy charge as opposed to a stock heavy charge. Therefore day sessions booked out for multiple people will have a re-evaluated price.
A lot of people ask this blind to all the behind the scenes work we do for free or at risk of a loss if we don't secure a job.
for us as well as every other studio worldwide, your price will be factored on the following.
Costs - Studios have a running charge for rent as well as many other things such as internet, office supplies, accountants, rates and more
Stock - Your service will require stock! and we have to make enough after running costs to ensure it is replaceable and usually expandable.
Insurance - When you are scarring people for life and poking pointy things at people insurance...we've all complained bout car insurance prices, now imagine when you add a daily risk of bodily harm to that equation.
Emails, texts, calls, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, in shop visits etc..... - We don't get paid for any of this and usually takes hours a day to get through in the morning before work, through the day on "breaks" and in the evening... running a studio is a 24/7 job often answering queries that are unnecessarily longwinded (hence the hope this FAQ will be used)
Booking fees - our booking apps cost money as a flat rate and being used, another cost to factor in.
Tattoo designing and drawing - Is all done free of charge usually in our evenings at home.
Sterilisation and cleaning - something we also do for free.
Permanency - Your tattoo/piercing is permanent! by ratio studio prices are still well under what we have seen you pay for a tracksuit, phone or trainers that last a year or less.
Cancellation nation! - Time wasters and booking cancellers drive any trades prices up as they have to figure out how not to take a loss from still being forced to provide time and services to these people.
A wage - After all this a tattooists daily hours pulled probably add up to 12-16 hours a day minimum 5 days a week - once all these costs are taken into account as well as taxes taken we are actually on a much more modest wage than most people probably expect, with no sick pay or overtime bonus', although the income is comfortable this is a job driven by passion.
Let us know! Our policy stands at no refunds but with enough notice given we can sometimes move the booking fee over once (check when booking for up to date policies on appointment rescheduling notice period). We are decent people and we know life sometimes gets in the way of plans.
Nothing annoys a tattooist more than sitting up all night drawing for someone that knows they're not coming in. If you just ghost us without any notification you risk being blacklisted from making further bookings as we prefer clients that have a basic respect to inform us if we're having our time wasted so we can make better use with the limited time we have. Or to have turned numerous people away thinking we're fully booked when we're not
Because that is exactly what your booking fee exists for.
It is not a refundable deposit, it is our cost to allocate the service of time to you which we voluntarily deduct from your final bill when/if you show up. even our policy of rescheduling is out of the ordinary but we do to promote peoples incentive to inform us of cancellations.
Please reach us at if you cannot find an answer to your question.
First and foremost; Know what you actually want! We are here to help and advise on the best outcome and style for your tattoo, but we do need a path to follow down with regards to an idea or starting point.
Step two, take a look at our artists, we often house various artists with various styles, you can make contact with the artist you would like via their own social media pages found in their information here, or if you're not fussed and looking for the soonest available artist you can email or message the studios Facebook page.
Once we have had a chat and quoted you we will advise your best plan for making a booking and then we will draw often the night before ready for the day and allow you to evaluate and make revisions at the start of the session.
This really shouldn't happen and you do risk losing your booking fee as you should be sure of what you're getting prior to booking, however; if this does happen we may still be able to adjust the session booked to allocate based on how busy that day has become so get in touch asap to increase our chances to help.
We will usually have the design ready to show in its outline stencil form, the style of the tattoo would have been discussed prior but may be reminded on, we will discuss colours, line thicknesses etc and print a draft off to figure out size as well as any relevant references to replicate from, we can discuss small revisions at this point such as if something seems out of place or bigger smaller items etc... then go set up while you sit and chill out in our waiting room, Once ready we will call you through, we will shave if necessary the area, and disinfect and skin prep with alcohol. then we will apply a stencil fluid to transfer it stencil to your skin or freehand with skin markers. it is important during stencil application to sit still to prevent smudging, you don't need to monitor application. you will have your chance to see and modify the stencil placement once we are done with initial application.
once we are good to go we will allow the stencil a moment to dry on and then begin, we will stop for frequent breaks so you will have chances to smoke, eat, go to the toilet etc...
Just to chill out! sleep well the night before, eat well that morning, hydrate!, in short; Give your body everything it needs to be comfortable.
Try and allow plenty of time, don't be flustered and don't make plans for after, make your entire day and evening as stress free as possible.
For some people bringing a friend or family member can provide some much needed relief, especially with anxiety of first tattoo, or to have a chaperone for more intimate places. however for the most part they can make matters worse, they can sometimes be disruptive and distracting so please bare in mind where possible bringing a friend that will bring calm with them rather than chaos.
Bring snacks and drinks with you to your appointment, caffeine and sugar are great in moderate portions but try not to overdo it to save you sugar crashing or vibrating off the chair!
For the evening get yourself a nice takeaway and stick the tv on and get some R&R, your body has been through a lot so some good food and a chilled out night is always the best way to recover
We prefer to and will always actively encourage you to make a choice custom to you. It doesn't mean you cant have it looking the same as what you have seen, all the same elements and proportions can be replicated, just in a custom way that is unique to you, imagine you thought your custom design was unique to you, you've paid a lot for it and now wear it for life and then find out someone else has ripped your design off and is walking around with an exact copy. that is what we are doing our best as an entire tattooing community to avoid. however we will take consideration on designs that are more restrained so do get in touch regardless.
No, we don't have time for this, all drawing is done once a booking is finalized and we have some sort of booking fee. if you want an a piece of artwork commissioned before making your booking that is a separate service that will cost more in the long run. Maybe something to consider if you're unsure but just adds unnecessary cost to most regular client requests.
